About Us

From Passion to Purpose

Chocolingua Academy grew from a deeply personal journey—one shaped by La Profe Romero’s own experiences as an immigrant learning to navigate a new language and culture. Those early challenges sparked a vision for a language learning space that felt warmer and more welcoming than traditional classrooms or language cafés.

As she built her family alongside her husband, raising bilingual children became both a joy and a mission. Their shared love for languages, travel, and nature infused Chocolingua with a spirit of adventure and discovery that goes beyond words.

What started as a simple idea—blending the sweetness of chocolate with the magic of language—has blossomed into a community where bilingualism is celebrated as a bridge to connection, confidence, and cultural pride.

At Chocolingua, every lesson is inspired by that journey: a commitment to making language learning immersive, meaningful, and full of heart. It’s a place where families come together to share stories, embrace new cultures, and grow in fluency—one joyful step at a time.

Our Approach

Chocolingua Academy offers a unique language learning experience that blends research-backed methods like Comprehensible Input (CI) and TPRS® (Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling®) with rich cultural immersion. Unlike traditional language classes, our approach makes languages come alive through stories, music, movement, and authentic interaction.

This combination not only builds language skills naturally but also fosters confidence, cultural curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning. Guided by internationally recognized frameworks such as CEFR and ACTFL, we track meaningful progress to ensure every learner achieves real-world proficiency.

What truly sets us apart is how we integrate proven techniques with a joyful, culturally rich environment—creating a personalized journey that’s both effective and inspiring.

Our Mission

Chocolingua Academy is dedicated to nurturing bilingual learners of all ages—children, teens, and adults—through immersive, culturally rich instruction in Spanish and English as a Second Language (ESL). We believe language is more than words; it’s a bridge to connection, new perspectives, traditions, and communities. Our approach inspires learners to embrace bilingualism as a joyful, meaningful journey.

Our programs emphasize meaningful engagement, cultural exploration, and practical use, fostering both fluency and a lifelong passion for language. Equally important, we empower educators with innovative, classroom-tested resources that make teaching effective and inspiring, whether in person or online.

As we grow, Chocolingua will expand into a bilingual lifestyle shop offering families, educators, and learners tools and products to celebrate and integrate multilingualism into everyday life—inside and beyond the classroom.
